I was brought up in Cumbria and completed my Art Foundation Year at Carlisle College of Art - I then went on to do my BA at Loughborough.
I have always had a fascination for open spaces both in the Lake District and around the English/Scotish borders and, for the last 30 years, the Outer Hebrides.
Some of my earlier work was selected for a Young Contemporaries Exhibition at the Walker Gallery in Liverpool and more recently at the Morvern Gallery on Lewis in the Hebrides.
I have been exploring the images I see on the Isles of Harris and Lewis in a less figurative way and this has led to a more abstract vision which is portrayed using both gouache and acrylic on canvas.
The elemental quaility of the islands has inspired a new series of paintings which I am currently exhibiting at The Smallhythe Gallery, near Tenterden, Kent.
